Other Courts
Other courts operating in Queensland include the Magistrates Court, Supreme Court, and District Court. These courts have jurisdiction to deal with disputes governed by the laws of Queensland.
The Federal Court of Australia which also operates in Queensland has jurisdiction to deal with most civil disputes governed by federal law (with the exception family law matters which are deal with by the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia).
Unlike QCAT and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, these other courts are generally not amenable to self-represented or “DIY” litigants due to the strict application of the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules.
